Muffin Recipe

Ingredients Needed

Choose your type of Pellet, we like to use either the "All-natural Zupreem" or the "Oven baked fresh bite" Pellets.

This recipe is a great way to help your parrots transition into eating plain pellets, that way you are also able to feed just "Pellets" and the muffin can be phased out or feed less often.

View Pellet Brands

  • INGRIEDENTS
  • Bananas
  • Chopped Walnuts or pecans or almonds which ever you choose
  • Mott’s applesauce (the travel cup size) No sugar
  •  Your Choice of muffin mix we use this brand, "Simple Mill". The Simple mills only use pumpkin or banana flavors.
  • You can add Organic Oat meal oats as well
  • And dry pellets we use All natural zupreem pellets

Muffin Mix Recommendations

How to Make pellet muffins:

  • Pre heat oven to what the box says on back.
  • Get a large mixing bowl
  • Speed Hand mixer
  • Liquid Measuring cup
  • Dry measuring cup (1 cup)
  • Add your choice of muffin mix into the large bowl
  • Read the back direction Simple Mills says to use eggs and oil, DO NOT use eggs or oil, you will use two cups (meaning the cups that the apple sauce comes in.) of the Mott’s Apple sauce to use as a binding agent rather than the eggs, then use ½ cup of water.
  • Mix the mix and the liquids together.
  • Add 1 cup of your preferred chopped nuts
  • Optional: Cut up 2 Bananas you can also add a small number of other fruits if you would like.
  • Soak 1 cup of pellets the zupreem pellets soak until semi soft, the Oven baked pellets DO NOT need to be soaked long just enough for them to be soft and crunchy.
  • Add pellets and mix
  • Add Organic Oatmeal oats 1 cup
  • Add half cup of Dry pellets
  • Use a ceramic pan free of PFAS, PFAO, PTFE DO NOT use any pan that contains Teflon or any toxic nonstick coating, carbon monoxide is DEADLY to your fids!
  • Spray inside of pan with a Coconut nonstick cooking spray.
  • Place the mix in the muffin pan.
  • Garnish the top with a raspberry or blueberry
  • Bake for 25mins, make sure to check on them so they do not burn.
  • The inside will be a little gooey due to the bananas if you use bananas.
  • Let muffins cool, then bag and freeze

*This recipe should last you anywhere from 1 month - 2 months depending on how much you choose to make and how many birds you have, we have 4 macaws and 1 conure and this lasts us 1.5 months

Note: We do a double batch each time.
